Jackie

My best friend, Jackie, came home from Texas to visit.  It was so much fun to have her here.  Usually she only comes for a few days, so we maybe get to go out to dinner one night while she's here, but this time she was here for almost 2 weeks because her sister, Michelle, came home from her mission! It's the first time, since I went to visit her in Texas the spring break before I got married, that I got to see her more than once in one visit.  I loved it!!!  We got to do lunch dates, have her family over to dinner at my parent's house, Michelle's homecoming and a few days of just hanging out.  It was wonderful!

We were really bad about taking pictures the whole time, but at least we got a couple our last day together while we were having fun with Jackie's iPhone.
I absolutely LOVE this picture of Jackie and Maggie!  They both look absolutely beautiful.
The last time Jackie saw Maggie, she was only a few weeks old and Maggie has changed SO much since then.  So I enjoyed the fact that they got to know each other a little better this time around.
Taking pictures with Jackie's phone was fun because you could take each picture and change the color and shading however you wanted it.  I love what we came up with here!

So here's a big shout out to Jackie!  I love you girl!  It's always so sad to have you go, but I'm super grateful to have such a good girlfriend who loves me and understands me so well.  Thanks to you and your family for letting Maggie and me spend so much time with you.  You're the best!!!

A Few Days Apart

I'm writing this post for Spencer.  This week Maggie and I are staying with my parents and poor Spencer is home in Logan all by himself working.  Spencer's cousin hired him to paint part of his basement, which is taking up all of his time once he's done with work.  Because of this, he is so tired.  We both miss having him with us and so I took some pictures and videos of Maggie so that Spencer can feel like he's participating in our lives here.

Last night, Maggie discovered her love of animals.
She probably could have played with Shadow all night.
She was climbing all over Shadow, grabbing at her feet and ears and even hitting and grabbing at her face.  It was super fun to watch.
Shadow just sat there the whole time and licked her intermittently.  Maggie loved it until Shadow licked her face - that definitely made her mad.
This afternoon, I got together with 3 of my good friends from high school for lunch at Cafe Rio.  Maggie was wishing she had some of the food we were eating, so I handed her the lime from the top of my salad.  At first she made the silly little sour faces and the she just dug in.
And as promised - here is Maggie crawling.  She's doing so well!  Every day she gets more and more comfortable crawling around.  It's adorable!  I love watching her get around.
Here, Maggie fell asleep while I was feeding her on the main level and I didn't really want to take her upstairs, so I just laid her down on the floor.  She wiggled herself around a bit and then eventually ended up here in this position.  I thought it was funny with both of her feet up in the air.
Lastly, Korbin had a great time trying to get sunglasses to stay on Maggie.  These pictures, which he took on his Black Berry made us very happy.
In this first picture she was kinda mad that her binki fell out.
But we were able to catch a winner of a shot here when we tried the second time.

That's some of what's gone on this week.  We miss you and love you, Spencer!  Hope this brightens your day a little.

August 25th
Spencer didn't have to work yesterday, so we decided to take an afternoon and go to the aquatic center while we still had really warm weather.  After being in the water for a couple hours, Maggie was pretty tired out.
Clapping!  It's super cute to see such a little girl clap so happily.  It makes us really happy.

Yay Maggie!

And guess who is officially crawling... as of tonight!?  You got it - MAGGIE!  She has been on the verge for over a week now, but for the first time tonight she actually decided to move herself more than 2 inches.  We were super excited.  Pictures and videos to come

More Fair Fun

August 20, 2011

This is obviously county fair season, and last weekend when we went to visit my family, we went with them to the Davis County Fair.  I never thought we'd actually go chasing the county fairs, but I kinda felt like that's what we've been doing.

The biggest reason my family goes to the fair is because my sister, Sydnee, shows goats for it.  She works all year at the Bavelas Farm and basically, in return, she gets to help show the goats in the junior competitions. She wins money and great prizes for it.  It's way fun for her and fun for us to see her do it.

After the prize ceremony and breakfast for the junior showpeople Saturday morning, we spent the next couple hours walking around the fair, just like we did last week.  This fair seemed a lot smaller than the Cache County Fair though, but there were a couple things different that we absolutely loved.

#1 - The Petting Zoo!

There was basically just this big open pen full of all these animals.  It was awesome!  The tortoise here was probably the most random one of all.
Funny that in the petting zoo there was a zebra, but we couldn't actually pet it.  That was a little sad.
Maggie and all the little goats fighting for some hay
Sydnee and Maggie petting the pony
A Camel... who would have thought we'd get to pet a camel?
Even more surprising than the camel for me was the Llama!  The only llama I've ever seen is in The Emporer's New Groove - so this was pretty cool :)

#2 - Walking on Water! (which may have been at the Cache County Fair, but we didn't see it)
Spencer and I didn't actually do it because it didn't seem to be worth the $8 they were charging for it, but Sadie and Sydnee sure did.
And it was great entertainment for us to watch them out there.
Totally fun!
My favorite part about this fair was Maggie's obsession with this plastic spoon.
It literally kept her happy the WHOLE time we were there.  I loved it!

Cache County Fair and Rodeo

We LOVE the county fair!  Last summer we missed it, so we made certain to fit it into our schedule this year. On Saturday, the 13th, we loaded Maggie up in the stroller with lots of bottled water and walked ourselves to the transit center and got on the shuttle county shuttle.  Here's a little bit of our day in a nutshell.

What's a county fair without lots of crazy fried foods?  We usually try to stay away from greasy fried foods, but  we never can pass up the once-a-year chance to chow down on the deep fried Oreos.  Yummy!
We spent our time walking around and checking out all the vendors and the barns full of homemade items/photographs that people submitted for the fair.  It was fun to see all those that received ribbons for their works.

After checking all that out, we went to the barns and checked out all the prize winning animals.  I honestly have no idea how they judge all the livestock, but we like to see who wins anyway.
We especially liked the pigs because Maggie has learned how to impersonate one.
There were some crazy looking chickens/roosters
I think Maggie was a little weirded out by them all
After seeing everything that could possibly be seen at the fair, we headed back to the shuttle stop so that we could get ourselves some lunch/dinner before going back for the rodeo.

Spencer and Maggie waiting for the shuttle.  Maggie was still impersonating the pigs :)
Maggie and me on the bus
After a little relaxing time and getting some food, we headed back to the shuttle for the RODEO!
Until last year, Spencer had never been to a rodeo, but now we have a hard time missing them when they come around.
When we went to the rodeo in Pleasant Grove, Maggie wasn't too fond of staying for the whole thing - but this year she was great!
Look at that happy face!  Maybe we can break her in yet....
Anyway - I LOVE having fun and free things to do all day.  Granted, the rodeo wasn't free and neither were the fried oreos, but it was totally worth the entertainment we got.  Good Day!

Six Months

My little baby is growing up so fast!  On July 27th Maggie turned 6 months old.

From 4 to 6 months old Maggie went from
1 - rolling from tummy to back only, to rolling everywhere
2 - sitting supported in the corner of the couch, to sitting anywhere and everywhere
3 - 14 lbs. 13 1/2 oz to 17 lbs. 4 oz.
4 - being 16 inches long to 171/4 inches.

She is learning and growing so quickly I can hardly keep up with her.  Sometimes I feel like we're being forced to learn even quicker than she is in order to keep her out of trouble.

Here are some fun pictures of our little darling.

My sweet ballerina
This is up there on my favorite outfits for her to wear.
I can't help but squeeze this cute baby - especially when she's wearing this outfit.
August 1st
Now when I lay her down to sleep, she goes straight from her back to her side or even stomach.
August 2nd
Sue Laneri, Alyse Essig's mom, bought this little bouncer at a garage sale and has loaned it to us until Maggie grows out of it.
She absolutely loves this thing!
This was her first time in it, so she wasn't quite sure what to do about it, but once she got the hang of it she didn't want to come out.  This is now how we get things done like dinner and the dishes around our house.  It's wonderful!

Maggie has some really funny tendencies.  The next few videos are the ones that make me especially happy.

August 6ht - Maggie loves reading!
This particular night was especially cute seeing Spencer reading with Maggie in front of him, reading her own book.
August 7th
This is one Maggie's new outfits that we pulled out of storage because she keeps growing and needing to move up to the next size of clothes.
It's one of my favorites!
I love this little girl!
Look at her going from sitting to her knees.  She is going to be crawling WAY too soon!
August 9th
This is probably my all-time favorite of Maggie's funny tendencies.  When I try to feed her, or at many other times now too, she crinkles up her little face and breathes really loudly at you.  I love it!

And last, but not least of Maggie's six month post... more tickle torture!  I just LOVE her laugh.  It makes every day so much happier and I just don't know what I'd do without it.
